You're right to feel apprehensive, but you'll thank your lucky stars for taking the leap once you're in Korea. I am back in Canada with two kids and a wife and wish every day that I could be back in the Land of the Morning Calm where everything started to make sense for me. Life's for the living, and Korea offers just that kind of life.
Don't be shy. Go for it!!!! |

| South Korea is NOT a place for 'living'. Gawd why do so many people that left dream to come back? Is it an idealism they make up in their mind? How in the heck is being a hagwon slave, and esl biatch living? I also don't see how many of you think that 2.3 milliion won a month is big money. For crap sakes, go home, get a real education, a real job and a real life. Eat foods you like, dress in anything you want to wear, drink spirits with people who can hold an intellectual conversation. Korea is an ESL pit. Granted, one year is fun. Its an experience. But in no, way, no way at all, is it a life. |

| I don't understand why the above comment was necessary. Whoever wrote it must be some flippin' retard who can't adapt to anything. I wish Koreans could make the immediate distinction between real teachers and xenophobic mama's boys who must have everything their way. I really feel sorry for this person who is obviously unable to see life through someone else's eyes. This reprobate should return to the hole that he ever came out of and let him make the big money which he's truly after, while letting normal people enjoy a new land and language. |

I don't see why your comment is necessary. Where did I say I could not adapt to Korea? I spent 5 years in the sandbox. I not only adapted, I found some great jobs and really thrived there actually.
Now, however, upon returning to my native country, getting a real job and furthuring my education, I see what having a better life is about. In MY opinion (yes, maybe not everyone shares the same) but 'living' is not habitating in a 15 pyong or less apartment, making 2500 dollars a month, and working as a glorified babysitter. If this is your idea of a good living, then maybe YOU are the retard.
And....who are you to determine who is 'normal' and who is not? I think, for the majority, expats in Korea are not normal. I know that I wasn't when I was over there.
Really, dude, get a life. |

| Ok. You want to hear something that will make you not feel guilty. Here it is. You are going to suffer much more than they will. |
