This post is about the TV show Heroes. I forget who recommended that I watch this show, but whoever they are they deserve an award. Heroes has got to be the best show I've seen. It's better than lost (especially better than lost season 3)

Spoilers

if you haven't watched up to the latest episode (season 1 E 17)- read no further.

Spoilers

Personally I think my favorite character is the ex-cop, can't remember his name. However with the latest developments of Mr. Bennet and his willingness to go against the company to save Clair I'm starting to like his character a whole lot more.

Clearly the most powerful hero is Peter Petrelli. He acquires other heros powers just by being near them, that's freaking amazing. In contrast Sylar has to kill to acquire powers. I'm looking forward to a meeting between sylar and Peter Petrelli as they have both acquired several powers and the result would be some sort of epic battle no doubt.

The question here is whether Peter would absorb all of Sylars powers or only his natural power of killing...

Who are your favorite characters and why? What direction do you think the show will go in the future? I checked the official site a couple of days ago and noticed that Heroes has been picked up for another season and they wrote about the fact that the writers have a broad plotline spanning five seasons.

Other significant characters

Hiro
Mohindar Saresh
Issac
split personality chick
her ex-husband
her son
Clair
Clairs natural mother
Peter Petrelli's Brother

I'm sure I missed a few and cannot remember all of their names right now.

I'm curious how they're going to fix up the split-personality chick. It's been foreshadowed that she goes to New York with her family.

The show is cool, but what I love is every few episodes where they have two heroes face off. The cop vs the split personality woman was interesting. I liked when she fought her husband and he beat her.

I can't believe I forgot to mention The Hatian, he's a pretty cool character. I also remembered the split personality girls name(s) - Nikki/Jennifer

Yup, I'm lovin' this show as well.

So many pieces still need to fall together before the end of thisseason though.. I really hope they don't try to extend it (to season 2). I'd much rather them start fresh in a new season.

There's a definite cliffhanger coming and I'm pretty sure it's going to be the end (or almost) of New York.

Definitely waiting to see future-Hiro again. I want to see more of (nyuk nyuk) the invisible guy.

BTW, skimming the DVDs at Technomart and saw that the cheerleader was also the lead cheerleader in "Bring It On 2"

The current series will have a clear resolution at episode 23. Then it's on to a new plot arc with new characters.

Clare's back story was interesting this last episode.
Plus it seems like children get the best/strongest powers, possibly as a merge of their superhero parents.

Hiro- shown just briefly as a kid playing the computer game. Stops time.Way powerful! Wonder what his father's (the Boss) power is? And his sister's?

Cheerleader-heals herself. Way powerful. Better than firestarting Mom, though flying like Dad would be nice.

The super smart boy with telekenetic powers. Makes ATMs spit out money, though I'm sure we'll see more of this real soon.

The show has gotten progressively better. In the beginning, I was a little disappointed because everything was going so slowly, but now it's entered a snowball effect, with the plot expanding and new characters arriving / abilities being uncovered.

My least favorite character is Nikki / Jessica. Not a very interesting power, and her character always has the same problem (struggling with the split personality). She's a bit boring.

My favorite character is Hiro, because not only does he have the best superpower, but his personality is endearing.

Lately Hiro has been the most disappointing because his plot goes nowhere.

I'm curious about the timeline on these people. I gather those that speak Japanese- Clare's Dad, Mr. Invisible, the Japanese, are longtimers from the start of the company, of which Hiro's Dad is boss. And then those with staple marks on their neck have recently been abducted and had "check-ups" of some sort. Is this right?

Wouldn't it make sense that Mohinder's Dad and Hiro's Dad were somehow connected way back at the start of the experiments/company?

I would speculate that Mohinder's dad was the theorist, and Hiro's dad took that theory (secretly?) to the next stage.

Somehow I don't think so. Mohindar's Father (MF) started research on this based on the human genome project (HGP). I believe, but could be wrong that the HGP was started in the '90s. Clearly Hiro's Father (HF) was involved in the company before this time so it is very unlikely that MF and HF could be connected in that way. Additionally MF research was done via a university where he wasn't exactly understood and HF is involved in some sort of multinational corporation.

That's not to say that possibly MF's funding could not have come secretly from HF but I doubt it.

I agree with Qinella about Nikki/Jessica being a weak character.
