I happened to be reading on Yahoo and saw there was going to be a lunar eclipse tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if I've got the time right, but maybe someone can verify this for me. I think it's 6:30-7:43am.

Yeah, me too.

Can someone look at the times on that dang graphic and tell me if I'm correct on figure the times out?

I'm thinking about getting up at the crack of dawn to watch this. It's not as exciting as a solar eclipse, but still worth it.

Based upon my calculations, your times are correct. We're 9 hours ahead of UT and we're between U1 and U2. But I won't guarantee it.

Thanks...now all I have to worry about are the damn clouds.

I have a feeling that's going to make it impossible to see.

I got all excited and ran up to the roof, but it was still full. Then came down and had a better look. It will eclipsed in Seoul at moonset, just before dawn.

Moon set is at 6:41am Seoul time.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is causing the eclipse? Is the Earth blocking the sun from shining on the moon?

Yep, the Earth's shadow is falling on the moon. Generally the light that does get through turns the moon red.

A solar eclipse is when the moon's shadow falls on the Earth.

No accounting for curiosity. Or the lack thereof.

I got up and went out to see it, but didn't have a high enough place to which to view it. Smurfette is right, too much concrete. The clouds didn't help either.

FYI on the 19th there will be a solar eclipse at about 11:30am in the morning. I'll post something the day before like I did in my origonal post to remind people.

Cool, that would be good. Smile Might be worth supplying a link showing how to look at it safely.

OMG, it's so funny you mention that. I remember seeing one in 1978 when I was in grade school. I also remember looking right up at it, despite our teacher telling us not to. Yep, some people never listen.

I'll keep that in mind though when I did post if I can find something about how to view it safely.
