I havent done it, but the OK Guesthouse in Phnom Phen was offering boat rides from nearby down the Mekong and to the delta.
That might be a nice trip. After this stint here I am planning to fly to Saigon, travel up to Hanoi, across to Laos, up to the Chinese border and down the Mekong, through Laos, Cambodia and back to Saigon.
Not sure yet if it is possible, but I will have as long as I like to organise it.

i did it the reverse way (saigon to phnom phen). it was part of a 3 day package tour. it was really nice and serene traveling up the delta.
i'm sure that you can arrange something from cambodia, in fact, there will be people falling over each other trying to sell you a deal.
incidentally, the immigration inspectors on the vietnam/cambodia boarder were the nicest ones i've met. |

I did it in 2002.
Wasn't a hassle.. book a minivan.. it'll go to the border.. you'll go through immigration and get in another minivan at the other side.. on your way again.
Biggest problem was the roads in Cambodia had some of the huge potholes i'd ever seen in my life. |

It's easy. The road has been paved, and it's only about 4 hours.
If I remember it's about $12.
Be advised that you can fly in SE Asia very cheaply nowadays. Vietnam Airlines has a route from Saigon to Phnom Phenh. From Phnom Phenh to Bankok, I would STRONGLY advise flying - it's a shocking journey, and you are usually delayed at the border for hours.
Check out Air Asia - they are virtually giving away the tickets. |

like ipsofacto said.. its easy.
basically almost ANY and ALL hostels or nearby travel agencies will book it for you in a manner of minutes. (they all get a commission for booking anything travel-related, hence every business that is related to that business expands into that business as well). |

I went from Phnom Penh to Chau Doc (a border town in the Delta) two weeks ago. It was a short 4-hour boat ride, but immigration took about an hour. Scenic in some parts as well. I think it cost $17 USD. I could've gone to Saigon overland first and then into the Delta, but decided that the boat would be more comfortable. And I didn't want to backtrack. |
