has anyone ever played the lotto here? someone told me once that foreigners couldn't play.

this is just something i was thinking about - if a foreigner bought a ticket and won some big jackpot, would they find some way to not pay them?

Foreigners can't play the lottery???Oh man,that's a riot.

I dunno.Anyways, two things spring to mind.

1.How could you take the money outside Korea?10K a trip??

2.Would it be classed as any manner of income?Win and be kicked out out of spite or have it withheld?

Anybody played and won a prize?

Personally, I don't believe in participating in games of chance, but I have friends who play. They've never won, though... Rolling Eyes

Foreigners can play. A Nigerian won 2 million USD way back in 2005. Also, for any winnings over 5000 won, they tax about 30%.

You can take more than 10K outside, you just have to report it and then the IRS is notified. Anything under 10K you don't have to report.
