Those parents should have their child taken away and charged with neglect. What they have allowed to happen is child abuse and should be treated as such. Shame on them, shame!
I have no sympathy for parents who allow their children to get to this stage. I actually have no sympathy period for parents who allow their child to become obese little alone morbidly obese. A parent who neglects the health of their child should be treated in the same manner as those who physically, mentally, finacially, socially or emotionally harm a child. I won't tell who how I fell about sexual abusers but I'm sure you would be thinking the same thing.
It's like the parents have their own little circus with images like that. Sad really. |

That's disgusting. She should be taken away and her parents be neutered.
This has to be one of the most spectacular failures of parenting I've ever seen. |

Maybe it's not the parents' fault. Looks to me like she has some sort of medical condition although I don't believe they said anything about that. |

There has to be an underlying medical condition. The parents are ultimately responsible but has she not seen any doctors in seven years? Why didn't the doctor(s) insist on acting long before now? |

neglect? This is child abuse. Take aay custody and parental rights, and imprison them. |

She was suffering and received medical intervention.
No need to condemn the family.
Obesity is not a crime, though there's a social undercurrent toward making it so. Very un-American. Others want to consider it a handicap. But we are not talking about 200 lbs kids. This news story is about someone who can't even walk, is crippled, and as clearly and indisputably handicapped, in need of medical attention. iI's not a health issue per se, unless someone wants to make it into one. |

I've only known one person who's made such a claim, and he died a year later in a car crash.
Life is more bizarre and grim than you can predict. |

She may have a slow metabolism or prada willie syndrome or something but THATS NO EXCUSE. She is 400 pounds for crying out loud, her parents are solely to blame here, shocking stuff. Medical conditions generally are managable, the parents should have picked up something was wrong about 300 pounds ago then gotten a diagnosis and worked with the health care professionals to ensure she has the best go at life, not just sat her down and stuffed her full of food as they obviously have done. Her parents are sick twisted people and if i were the social services i'd have her removed from the family until they have learnt better. |
