I have one of those automatic lights at the inside enterance of my one room apartment. It has a motion sensor, but it doesn't work properly at all. You stand under it, the light doesn't go on. To turn it on, you have to wave your hands frantically in front of the motion sensor. That's just great when you're trying to put your shoes on in the dark.
The quirky thing is that the light there sometimes just turns on when there's no one under it. Lately, it's been going on every 10 minutes in the evening and night. I can't sleep with this, so I have to cut the circut breaker to turn it off. At the end of the day, you just have to laugh.
So, what's crazy about your place?

My light does the same thing. I'll walk by the entry way, maybe 5 or 10 feet away, and it comes on. Then it won't come on at all when I wave like crazy under it.
Other quirks? Once lived a nice korean apartment coverd in mold. Does that count. |

I have these stains on my wall. One looks like a demonic wizard and the other looks like a vampire.

I used to have a room back in Canada whose closet was poorly insulated and above the stairway to the outside. My clothes would be frozen stiff in the morning, so I'd have to take what I wanted to wear out and let it thaw overnight. |

I have a couple of cupboards in my kitcehn that don't open. Well, they do....a couple of inches. Just enough to see inside and see the never installed shelves standing on their ends. They are blocked from opening by the two burner sticking out of the counter.
My hall light does the same thing. Middle of the night, freaks me out when it comes on.
Kitchen window glass is opaque. Bathroom shower window is clear. There's another apartment about 4 mteres away. |

Wow. If you had one like the Virgin Mary you'd make a mint. Still you should post them on a vampire site and see who turns up. Just Ebay them and see what happens! |

I lived in this apartment from August to December. The bathroom, like a ton of bathrooms I've seen in places older than 2 years, was a nightmare. The walls were so poor that the tiles no longer stuck to the wall properly. The wall had soft spots and one one part the tiles had fallen off entirely. A person who lived there before me drew faces on the exposed concrete:
My new place has an outhouse.
edit: can't link to the f'n picture. Yahoo photos can be a pain sometimes. |

RACETRAITOR, you might want to take care of that mold...
i live in a pretty new building and the floors, windows, and walls were redone this year...
the wallpaper has been redone quite a lot, but before this time, they didnt remove the furniture first. they'd wallpaper around big wardrobes and shelving units...they're big, but not difficult to move. i rearranged my room one day and had a wall that didnt match |

Yeah - my shower is strange. The water drains out of the shower area into a drain under the sink. After I'm done showering, I have to take the shower head and spray it on the drain for a couple minutes to clear the shampoo suds. The bathroom floor is consequently always wet. |

I'm on the fifth floor and use the stairs alot to stay in shape.
However the automatic lights on the 5th floor is mounted on the egress, meaning that i have to walk up or down 1 flight in complete darkness until it comes on, to make matters worse; when it DOES come on, it flickers and flashes like a strobe light!!!! |

Do you think if I lied, I could convince people they were the Virgin Mary and the Holy Ghost or something? To me they look pretty demonic, but maybe it's like a Rorschacht test. |

My apartment has no quirks to speak of, but I wanted to point out to RACETRAITOR and others who suffer from encroaching mold that you can buy a squirt bottle with a bleach mix in it and that'll knock the mold right out. My apartment last year had a hideous mold patch bigger than my entire body, and it turned black in the winter. I put up with it all year but made an effort to clean it before I moved out. It was almost entirely cleared up after a few days of the spray treatment. I didn't scrub or anything. |
