it gets disappointing when you pronounce it right and it doesn't sound like "dawng" anymore.

when i found out that "maebong" station was may-bo(long o)ng and not "my bong" (bawng, as in water pipe) i was fucking crushed.

every time i give someone from home my address, i have to say "and don't laugh".

Also. There's a Chinese restaurant in my hometown that's been around for a long time. It's called Hung Far Low.

I live in "Sukmi" apartment building.


Later I found out it's pronounced Songmi. But not before I gave my address out to my mother. Kinda awkward.

in beijing, there's an apartment complex (very posh, too) that's called Bo Ning Plaza. the adverts were for "Wonderful Boning Plaza"

i don't think i had ever done a double-take like that before in my life.
