LiNK is one...
but you're going to find most other avenues dominated by Christian organizations.
And, as always, watch the legalities of volunteering here in the ROK. |

There are over 10,000 defectors currently living in South Korea.
Do you need sources? |

According to the Republic of Korea Ministry of Unification, 1,118 defectors were living in South Korea as of December 2000. In 2001, 583 defected. Since, the numbers have soared.
From January to September of this year, 882 North Korean defectors entered South Korea, following the 1,894 who defected in 2004, according to the Ministry. In 2003, 1,281 arrived in South Korea; in 2002, it was 1,139. |

Watching the Defectors: What happens to North Korean refugees when they make it to the south?
By Soyoung Ho
Quote: |
On a recent weeklong trip to Seoul, it proved surprisingly difficult to meet any of the 6,300 North Korean defectors residing in South Korea. Last year alone saw a huge influxalmost 2,000 of them. Starting in late 2004, in an attempt to halt the flow, North Korea publicly executed "brokers" who help defectors cross to China, and the Chinese authorities stepped up their efforts to seek out and return refugees, driving them further underground. |

and also forever young should know that since the south korean government doesnt recognize north korea as a country all north koreans are offically considered south korean citizens and are not only let in to the country but if they can make it to south korea they are given a fat lump of cash to get their new lives started off |
