|
|
Last night was our bi-weekly beer party at my school. I ended up at the lower end of the table with the lieutenants (I teach at an army school) and had a nice time. At one point one of them asked me if I was proud of the US winning WWII (HIS words, not mine. )
From there, we got onto the topic of Nazi bars. I told them I knew that there had been 2 Nazi bars, one in Taejon and one in Shinchon in the past and that I thought they are still there.
Are they? Does anyone know?
PS: All four were shocked. None of them had ever heard of these places and were not pleased that anyone would open a bar with a Nazi theme. One said it was 'irresponsible'. The others nodded in agreement. |

I seem to recall there was one in Shinchon- the Third Reich Cafe. It had waite staff in SS regalia. This was back in 2000. It didn't last long. Nobody ever accused the Koreans of good taste. |

At the restaurant called "Shogun" in COEX, the waiters and waitresses where swastikas on their shirt with the eagle (or whatever bird it is) perched on top. It is definitely a Nazi patch. |

Three Alley Pub. You won't see anyone dressed in Nazi helmets or anything, but hang out there for a while. |

there's one in daejon, called hitler bar, and another one in uijungbu. i haven't been to either yet, though i certainly plan to make my way to both at some point...
if RACETRAITOR checks out this thread (it has the word "nazi" in it, how can he not?), he can give you more info for sure.

I heard the one in Daejeon doesn't exist anymore, but the source was hearsay. |

There used to be a great one in Seomyeon in Busan. At first it was called "Adolph Hitler" and featured a huge saluting Hitler sign. Many people complained so the owner changed it to "Dadolph Dhitler" and stuck some dark sunglasses on Hitler's image. It used to crack me up on my way to work...but I have strange humour.
Long gone now. Maybe these guys should learn the Nazi theme is not the key to longevity of one's business. |

This weekend me and all the other skinheads are taking a trip down to Daejeon to drink at Hitler, and then later we're going to another place called Rommel. I'll take lots of pictures and put them online. |

The place in Shinchon just uses Nazism as decor. In Time magazine the owner defended it by saying"Why should I change?I have the only Nazi bar in Seoul"
Other than that it's the same as any other Korean bar, right down to the annoying student bartenders practicing their "Kocktail" routines. |
