I like words and like learning new ones. I propose a 'word of the day' thread, where I can learn cool new words.
I'll start:
"feculent."
It means, full of feces; as in "I wish that fruitcake would stop posting such feculent dribble."

Bathycolpous - big-breasted

Cleave - 1) (intransitive) - to firmly or loyally
2) (transitive) - to divide by or as if by cutting

Cleave is one of my all-time favorites because it's a near self-antonym and (spelled differently) the name of my high-school calculus teacher / track coach.

How about words with interesting properties?
Strengths = longest English word with only one vowel
Facetious(ly) = shortest English word with all the vowels in alphabetical order

Sesquipedalian A long word.

adj.
1. Given to the use of long words.
2. Long and ponderous; polysyllabic.

I love this. Unlike abbreviation, it is of about the right length.

I discovered the word tribadism a few weeks ago and it changed my life. So did the diagram accompanying it on Wikipedia.

ha, ha! It's also called 'frottage.'
Frottage cheese, anyone?

Not exactly. Tribadism is one particular type of frottage. An old man on the subway rubbing his junk against you through his crusty sweatpants is not tribadism. Anyway, I'm going to read more about tribadism now.

By the way, here are two more great words:

-invaginate: to fold inwards, making a crease. Take out the first and last two letters and you'll learn something fascinating about English.

-furtling: the act of cutting out bits of pictures and sticking your fingers through to simulate sex organs or sexual intercourse. Not well documented online, but a great Victorian fetish.

I'll never top 'furtling' but I got a good one...

"logorrhea:" pathologically incoherent, repetitious speech. Like, verbal incontinence.

I'm off now to furtle my Princess Di Memorial Book. Maybe later I'll go frotting, or if God loves me tonight, maybe He'll send me a bathycolpous virago. If not, I can always come home and trepan myself again...sigh...
