HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No seriously, get an air conditioner. Don't consider for a second not getting one. Doesn't matter how much it costs. Just get it.

I did last summer without an air conditioner.

Im not lying when I say it was worse than hell.

Thats not a lie. I really do mean - it WAS worse than hell.

The hot humid summer really takes it out of you. And then, if you dont have AC, you cant sleep well so you dont have the energy that you should the next day. Its a downward spiral. I would wake up in a pool of sweat in the middle of the night, my sheets were soaked. I would sometimes sleep on the floor instead.

I didn't have one my first year here. It was terrible. I did however have a fan that I left blasting on me all night long while I slept, and I didn't even die once Wink . However, one day in August when I was feeling really sick, my fan broke, and Carrefour had stopped carrying them for the season, and I was forced to just stick it out for about 4 more weeks of excrutiating heat and I never got more than an hour or two of sleep per night.

GET AND AIR CONDITIONER.

There's also rumours afoot from climatologists and the like that 2007 will have a particularly punishing summer.

I would definitely get an AC.

I have a ceiling fan in my living room here and that is as good as A/C.

I have aircon in the bedroom and it is noticably better, but the fan does the job to be honest...

But yeah either get aircon or a HUGE and I do mean HUGE fan.

You can pick one up around the outskirts of Yongsan electro market second hand for about 50,000 Won.

I've seen ones about two foot in diameter, with swivel heads etc for that price. That would be pretty much almost as good as aircon.

You can also buy cabinet fans with a tray for iceboxes and they blow out the cool air. Expect to pay about 120,000 Won for a second hand one worth having. A friend of mine bought one for 60,000 and it was useless.

I'm from blighy too, was there for summer of 2004. That was one F*CKING HOT SUMMER. Was in London too, so very humid.

Expect worse here and for the whole duration of June, July and August.

Cold showers and buy that aircon or fan.

Also if you're a guy, bring light colored, lightweight cotten or linnen pants and shirts (short sleeved) for the summer period. You will be glad you did...!!!!

I survived with a fan. I never though it was that bad. My mother was very stingy about the AC when I was growing up so I'm used to life without it.

No chance.

Buy a s/h one and sell it on when you leave. Get it serviced before the season starts.

I went without one my first year at this high school, and it was pretty bad. I wanted to buy one, but I was in a small town way out in the sticks, and it involved installing it into the wall because of the type of window. When I asked for advice on where I could get one at the start of my second year, the head of the English department got the principal to OK the expense of having a couple people from 30 miles away install one for me ...

I survived last summer without one, but my cat nearly didn't. My wife was less able to cope with it.

I am a Brit too and I survived just fine without aircon last summer. But, that may be because my city is surrounded by mountains.
