I watched the reports yesterday and I thought it was a little hacked. The man that they interviewed as the "extremist" role was the same guy who went undercover for the RCMP and helped crack the Toronto terror cell. That's hardly a guy I would consider a fanatic.
We should be concerned with intimidation and the report shows that we as a public are interested in the topic (unlike other countries, no names). As well, we know that the local police plus the RCMP and CSIS are activily involved with the community.
I think this was a lame attempt to stir up contraversy where there is none.
Like the "extremist" said, Imams have the right to advise their parishiners not to shop, eat, buy, read, etc any buisness. Thats real freedom. |

I don't think that is fair. The CBC is in the tight grip of the multicult police, people who fanatically yell RACIST and NAZI at any criticism of islam. This was the best that they could do, and to the extent that that is true, this short report becomes all the most worrying.
I'm down with individual rights and such. I don't give a damn where they shop, or whatever. But what we are seeing is the establishment of parallel societies that are governed by the most radical elements of those societies. They are racist, supremacist and very hostile to those around them, yet use the language of anti-racism and inclusion to silence their critics. That is our weakness, and they know it.
For those of us with a sense of history, and an understanding of how fragile stability is, this is quite problematic. My impression when I was home last was that the muslims are liked by non-muslim Canadians about as much as AIDS but that people keep quiet for fear of being called names. This could change quickly. Look at Oz last year for an example.
Fanatics on both sides are keeping real cultural integration from taking place. On the multicult side, you have those (such as a certain in-denial-about-his-race poster from this site) who scream NAZI at criticism and on the islam side you have imams who marginalize as "anti-islam" moderate voices. It is amazing, how totalitarian systems of different origins use the same tools to keep discussion down. |

You make some valid points and I agree, a bit, but I have never really had a bad experience with Muslim people in Canada. They seem a bit secluded from the rest of the population but many are 1st generation immigrants and their kids. I don't believe that Islam can defend its self against western Ideals. Most of the muslim kids I met in HS and Uni were very Liberal and pretty kool.
Its important to keep an eye on the situation and I was glad we didn't go donw the road of Sharia law in Ontario but I'm not worried (or crazy and digging my bunker for the upcoming attack like some on this board), maybe slightly concerned. |

Well, for those who beat that Afghan secular fellow they should be stripped of their citizenship and deported. Canada fights against terrorism, fanatacism and if you are originally German and were a nazi, a Muslim and a supporter of terrorist type elements, you are not a Canadian. People who support the Taliban or those who think like them are similar in thought to the people who have killed Canadian and American soldiers in Afghanistan. |
