huh? I really don't think you have a clue what the enlightenment was about.......... or please tell me and show me otherwise. I'll do the same in response.

DD

PS. No, I've never served in the military. What does that have to do with being able to have an opinion? An intelligent opinion?

I didn't say that you couldn't have an opinion...that's your own wacked imagination...You wanna talk about how insensitive the Americans are and can't understand another's worldview..well I'm gonna call bullcrap on you...You've never been in the military and apparently know nothing of the cultural training our soldiers go through over there...doing their absolute best to protect innocent iraqis while being fired upon...

As for the Enlightenment ...well I guess I at least have a clue because I took courses on it at Uni and ended up earning a degree in History...but yeah I'll put my definition up here and then have you tear it apart because it doesn't match what you believe it to be..then you can say something about how you know French add a fancy quote from Rousseau ..and wahhh lahhhh (that's french right?) Anyway here's what I was getting at....

I asked if you have ever heard of the Enlightenment in response to your pontificating about being able to grasp another's culture....The American's can't do it, but you sure can??....You with your inability to celebrate secularists who are radically critical of Islam (those of the Irshad Manji and Ayan Hirsi Ali ilk).....Those who actively seek to see organized religion put out of power...to see Islam suffer enough of a marginalization that it's religous laws can never touch the innocent again...You who has to pipe up with your fear of that established religion being "demonized"....think of the absurdity of some one saying 'hey Voltaire stop being critical of the poor Catholic Church'...then picture yourself and Islam.....I asked because you don't seem to have a clue about this central tenet of the Enlightenment (and please I know that there were other themes yes...save it )
