I have about 300 to spend on a new monitor. Looking at the new Samsung or Dells, but open to any suggestions. What would you guys get with that much money? Why would you get that?

I too have been looking at a new monitor as I'm tired of this piece of crap CRT monitor so I want an LCD monitor for sure. On gmart.co.kr (or gmarket.co.kr, can't remember) I saw a Lumion 22' LCD with TV functions for 326 000 won. My wife doesn't know Lumion (but I'm sure I've heard of them before) so we're looking at a higher priced one, but if it were up to me and had around 300 000 won to spend I'd get that one. It's on their best seller list when you go to the monitor section. Has the jacks in the back for whatever you plug into it (in my case my PS2 or XBox 360) so it's ideal.

I've been looking at the BenQ models. They're pretty cheap yet still have a great reputation and I've read good reviews. I'd give the links, but I didn't save them. Also, I remember reading that most of the screens are actually built by Samsung or LG, it's just the casing that is made by other companies. What that means is that any monitor is probably going to be Samsung-quality, and you just need to go on looks.

Costco are doing the Viewsonic 22 inch widescreen for 320,000. A great deal I'd say.

PCBank all the way.

You really should look at monitors and find one you like, then buy it over the internet. Picture quality can differ. There's a lot more to a monitor than just who makes the LCD panel.

I totally agree. You should physically see the monitor displaying something (movie/ game/ etc) to decide which brand/ model you like. Then, start looking for the best deal around or online. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything less than a 19" widescreen...

Yea, that one looks good. Don't think I want the integrated speakers though. Hhmm, maybe.

I was thinking about the Samsung 206bw. Looks pretty sweet, anyone have this or have any input about it?

Specs look good... 3000:1 contrast ratio, 2ms response, 300cd/m2 brightness, 1680x1050 native resolution, dvi and d-sub inputs. Do you know if it has the matte or glossy finish (the screen, not the casing)? Some people have a strong preference to one or the other...

I took a look at that monitor at Costco today. It was definitely nice, a little flimsy for my taste, because it's so large. I don't really like the integrated speakers as well. I think I will go with the Samsung 206bw. Nice and sturdy, great looking and awesome specs.

You can get the Samsung 206bW at Yongsan for around 350,000. It does indeed have better specs than the Viewsonic. 2ms and 800:1 compared to the Viewsonic's 5ms and 700:1.

But! The Viewsonic 2230wm can be had for 275,000 at Yongsan. A bigger screen, similar specs and around 75,000 less money. I would go for the Viewsonic.

I think the same model can be found at "Homever" for 250,000.
