Mornign everyone.
I woke up this mornigna dninnediately thought about buying a house for some reason. I know I can't afford something I would want back home. Does anyone have an y ideas about where to buy inexpensive housing in foreign country?
I'm pretty popen minded about this i'd prefer something in a safe location. Um, should be able to legally own a property in a politicaly stable country. Preferably something close to a beach with decent food. I've looked into some areas of central and south america.
Cool, just my early sunday morning random thought. |

A lot of areas in Mexico offer competitive housing prices with modern amenities and facilities nearby. |

When I was in Sri Lanka a few years ago they were building like crazy. It's a popular place for vacation homes for Europeans. Pretty nice tropical island. |

Except for the rebels and civil war.
You could look into Thailand as well. I used to live in Argentina and wish I could retire there. By the time I get the cash together to buy a house, it will probably be too expensive there. There are seom nice beaches, great wine and steaks, and its seasonal, so you won't be sweating to death all year. |

You can hire very cheap maid in Brazil too.
Brazil is a beautiful country and everything cheap.
I have a few relatives who live in that country. |

I'd love to buy some property in Argentina. Starting with some rental apartments in Buenos Aires. From my short time there, and on-line research, it looks like it would be a good return on investment. As you said, the only problem is getting the cash together before prices go up. From what I've read, there doesn't seem to be too much real estate inflation at the moment. |

You can get some cheap houses in the Caribbean islands, not on the beach, but close. I like Dominica. |

No, but I'd love to go visit. Just pointing it out to the OP, because he did say he wanted a politically stable country.
HuffDaddy, Apts in BA are a great return. you can buy one for about US$75,000 for a nice one. Then rent it to tourists for $500 a month. Pretty sweet. Have you been to BA? Its fantastic. If the pay and demand were better there, I never would have left. |

Sihanoukeville in Cambodia. The beaches are incredible and the property im guessing has quadrupled recently. Living there you may be able to take advantage of the local economy. |

Characterizing Sri Lanka as "rebels and civil war" isn't an accurate description. South and North Korea are technically still at war, aren't they? That doesn't mean it's unsafe to live here. Same with Sri Lanka. It's a laid-back, tropical island democracy with a growing economy, lots of English, stunning beaches, plenty of good food (best coconuts in the world). I'd worry more about earthquakes if I were living back home in Los Angeles than I would about trouble with a terrorist group huddled and cringing in the northeast if I were living in Sri Lanka. |

I did my TEFL in BA and traveled around Argentina a bit as well. Loved BA and Argentina in general, but the pay was too big of drawback. If I was 10 year younger, I might have stuck it out for a year. |

My wife and I bought a apartment in China. If you buy in China, you have a good chance of making a nice profit. We bought a 200 sq meter apartment, dicorated it, and bought all the furniture for 30,000 USD's. |
