Nine out of ten of my students say they would rather live in another country if given the choice, so when I hear expats say things like "Yeah, I really like Korea!" I can't help but wonder what went wrong in their lives to bring them to that point.

But I have some theories...

One, I call bumkis on your survey. I am betting it wouldn't meet many standards. Wink

Job, friends and family make more of a difference to peoples' happiness anyway. When most people say they like Korea, they might just have good lives here, independent of the country (just like home).

It's human nature to think the grass is greener on the other side too.

I don't understand why you are still here. Money is not everything, and if you are not happy, you really should go somewhere where you will be happy.

Why does everyone always assume [incorrectly] that I'm unhappy? I like taking the piss out of Korea and Koreans because it's so easy, so necessary, and most importantly, so amusing. Dig?

I think Mack knows what he's talking about. Deal with it. This place has more holes in it than your mom's panties. Why shouldn't he point them out?

The answer to your poll is yes for all but child support (as far as I know).

May I suggest you begin with my "Ugly Americans" thread and work your way back through my posts from there. Eventually the truth will be revealed to you, and it will set you free. Unfortunately, right now, the Matrix has you.

Miss Seoul,

Don't you think that most foreign English teachers are losers?

Second, what is your definition of a loser?

Last, are you a loser for living in the U.S.? What's your excuse?

Korea is a great place if you do not have to live like a Korean with all the pressure in school and at work. If I were a Korean, unless I was one of those that are just rolling in it, I would want to leave too.
