No, I don't think the accents were necessary. But given the almost 90% disapproval rating Bush has among blacks, I don't think the conservatives have much right to cast aspersions on Obama and Hillary. But hey, that'd require people to actually consider the issues and not rely on ad hominem's to bolster themselves. |

Finally, the ventriloquist speaks for himself. Whether Bush is popular among blacks is neither here nor there as far as this thread is concerned. But since you bring it up, I think it's further indication of just how skewed to the left the self-annointed black political leadership remains. They always adopt a reactionary posture, which is sad because in essence they are conveying to blacks that one is being a traitor to the race to harbor conservative views. Tell that to Ken Hamblin, aka "The Black Avenger" of radio show fame, or Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas or John McWhorter or Shelby Steele and a growing number of intellecutal blacks who refuse to march lockstep to a mostly poorly educated leadership that has long been out-of-step, feeding off of white guilt in their constant references to civil rights, fanning the flames of resentment among moderate whites and other minorities with their refusal to modify affirmative action policies, crying victimization instead of taking responsibility in family matters and personal behavior, and playing the race card any time things don't go their way.
It's counterproductive, too, because these self-proclaimed leaders make it possible for otherwise productive and visionary young blacks to take the low road, undermining their own best interests in the process. I know: I watched it unfold firsthand for more than a decade in an old black community in the South.
Think about it: no other racial or ethnic group in Ameria would allow a few of their own to speak on their behalf. Blacks will not be truly free until they can in the main stop playing the race card and tolerate dissent within their ranks without resorting to blind name-calling. |

Well, if the topic is hypocrisy and double standards, then it is an apt point.

Aren't you doing the same thing? You're just replacing the evil white man with the evil black man. Most of my black friends in Chicago are college educated and gainfully employed. Blaming anyone, be it whitey or other other failed black leaders, is not in their vocabulary.

Phhbt. They'd allow it, they just don't have it. The only other ethnic group with similar numbers is the Hispanics. And they're all over the map politically. Looking briefly at the numbers, the results appear to speak for themselves. Blacks are better represented in Congress. That comes from unity.

They learned that from the masters. |

Don't have what? The fact that Hispanics are all over the map politically shows diversity of views and discerning political eye. What you call unity I call blind allegiance and an outdated defensive kind of posturing. Blacks are better represented because their political machinery has been around a lot longer. Certainly you know that brown power is a very recent phenomenon, reflecting immigration and demographics. |
