If I want a re-entry permit (my old employer and I are signing a new contract for the next year coming up), how do I get one of these? Just ask for one upon going through immigration (I am visiting my home country for a month before I start my next contract)?
I heard that my employer must do the work here, that he is the one who must sign up for a re-entry permit. Is that true?
Thanks in advance, |

When you arrive at the airport to fly home there is an immigration office on one of the floors. I had to go there when I took some students to the UK for my Visa. Anyways, just provide your passport with the Visa stamped in it and your ID Card and fill in some paperwork and hand it in to the clerk. She will stamp your passport with a re-entry visa. Simple as that.
One more thing, if you're British it is free. If you're not, it will cost like 20,000KRW or there abouts. Helps to be British. |

If your ARC was extended (beyond the dates of your travel) you can get a multiple re-entry permit from your local immigration office. If you are from the UK it is free. If you are from anywhere else the fee is 50,000 won. You will need your passport, ARC, application form and fee.
If your ARC was extended (beyond the dates of your travel) you can get a single re-entry permit at the airport. The office is located down a hallway leading from the departures area of the airport (before you go through security). The hall is located behind the row of checkin counters labeled "F". You will need your passport, ARC, application and 30,000 won. It takes about 15 minutes and must be done BEFORE you check in for your flight.
If your ARC expires while you are gone you will need to get an extension before you go or a new visa before you return. |

I agree with the 're-entry permit at the airport comment,' but I'm not so sure about the 'multiple re-entry permit from your local immigrtion office' comment.
I was in the habit of getting the re-entry permit from the airport everytime I went on vacation, so the next time I was in my local immigration office, I inquired about getting a multiple re-entry permit.
I was informed that that was not possible. I was informed tat I MUST continue applying for/obtaining single re-entry permits from the airport immigration office everytime I leave the country. |

Everyone I know (myself, my wife and our daughter included) has had a multiple re-entry permit issued by the local immigration office at a cost of 50k won per year.
I have no idea why you were told that you couldn't have one. |

Ditto that. I have always got my multiple re-entry permit from immigration. I don't see why people would give themselves the extra stress of having to get one before they catch their flight.

No doubt.
I wish I could have met with yours or ttompatz's immigration officer instead. |
