I just bought a Hyundai monitor for 160,000 brand new, and it doesn't seem to show the screen at all after the xp loads up.
My question; do I need a DVI cable AS WELL AS a vga cable for it to work properly? The back of my case doesn't support DVI, so I'm presuming that the problem is my video card or else the back of the case needs to modified.
Keep in mind it only came with the VGA cable. |

Please do the following:
You have a video card right?
A - connect it to the video card while the computer is off. Then turn it on and see what happens.
then if that doesn't work...
B - connect the monitor to the mother board monitor plug with your video card disconnected from the motherboard. If it works, then you video card is bad.
Please let me know what happens.
Ralph
P.S. Does your old monitor work on your video card? |

The old monitor works fine; the video card itself was pretty good for the original price--I bought the machine 4 months ago--I'm going to try to get a DVI to VGA cable and see if that works. |

ok, so the old monitor works on the video card.
Then, my guess is that something is up with the new monitor. Did you try connecting it directly to the motherboard? (and disconnecting the video card)? |
