I just walked through LaFesta in Ilsan to get lunch, and stumbled onto this big Korean ceremony involving 30+ men and women in white robes, white headbands, dancing in line formations, drumming, chanting....at first they were holding small spades (shovels?), then i ate, and when i came back there were tiny seedlings set up on the ground. left again and came back, this time they were wheeling a big cow around the circle.
it was not something my hangover was expecting to come upon, but all the same it was pretty awesome.
if you can tell me what i just saw, i would be greatly appreciative. |

| It might be a blessing ceremony. I've seen quite a few of them in the last month. Apparently the tradition is to hold them in spring. |

Maybe it was some sort of funeral ceremony. Didn't you see any casket or some sort of carriage that may carry a casket? If not, they're probably returning from burying someone. |

I saw da same ting in the morning. I thought it was pretty cool. I didn't have a hang over, though I did drink the night before. These people were dress in these beige costumes and beating these drums. I would assume it relates to some ancient tradition having to do with wanting a bountiful harvest. It is just a guess since one of the common ways of greeting someone in Korean is asking them if they ate something. |

| Sounds like a mudang thing- those Korean shamans. I don't know much about them, but a friend had one in the neighborhood, and she reported that the mudang had things like that going on fairly often |

| Korean anti-FTA farmers showing how helpful they are to the community, and how they should be allowed to keep prices at 3 times what they could be. |

Well, I believe the Greek, Russian, Syrian-Lebanese dance where guys and girls hold hands and interchange and yell has to do with an old farm culture and a celebration related to food. I am assuming this is the same. |

It all starts out pretty innocent and cool, but if you watched the conclusion it would have looked like this:

| It was just a church thing. I walked by it briefly on Sunday. The big banner they had up said something like, "The Sounds of Heaven" etc etc and more Christian glurge. |
