I've taught at my Elementary school for a year and have been very happy here. The administration and staff are honest and kind.

I am considering staying on as an "after-school" teacher. I would be working about 4 hours a day, teaching only extra curricular classes, getting about the same pay I am now (for working 8 hours/day)! Pretty good deal...

My concern, however, is that I will be paid precisely the amount that the students' tuition brings in. If class sizes drop, my pay drops accordingly. If I take a vacation, no pay. If I take on additional students... I get paid more. Almost my own business, operating through the school's books.

And although I don't expect there to be a problem, it feels risky. A sudden downturn in the economy or nasty rumor could cut my paycheck in half, but I'd still be in a year-long contract. On the other hand, I would have complete control over my program. No one will set my hours or my vacation. It's up to me and how much money I'd like to make.

Has anyone done something like this? Is it absolutely crazy? Or even legal?

Thanks,

Smiles^^

Sounds good to me. Do a good job and the money may roll in. Don't like doing it then don't.

Win and Win.
