I'd like to buy a decent computer.
Looking for something that I can use to download music and movies, store pictures and word files.
256MBRam (is that unheard of these days?), 60+ gigHD will do, CD-RW, DVD ROM-would be nice . Processor speed ???? I don't know...just fast.
Really, just a basic all-round computer.

BTW: I live way down south in Mokpo.

Your ram isn't enough to run XP remotely well.

Bare minimum should be double that. A gig is better. It's almost more important than processor speed on many rigs.

Okay. I think it's pretty obvious I know nothing about computers.
Maybe I'm going to get suckered into buying a piece of crap. Oh well, a piece of crap will be better than what I'm using now. Thanks for the input. But I do want to buy a pretty cheap computer. ~ 300,000 Won.

You realize that for about that price you can get a new, entry level, desktop machine from the market at Yongsan?

Pentium D (dual core) CPU@3 gHz
(edited to correct dual core NOT core duo)
512 megs RAM
GEforce 7100 PCI-E video card
3D on-board sound
160 gig SATA2 HDD
DVD/CDRW combo drive
mouse, keyboard, network card,
400 watt power supply, slim case

Used CRT monitor (17"-21")

Your local computer store will probably do it for about 100k more and save you the trip to Yongsan.

If you get ENGLISH windows here it will probably be pirated unless you are willing to fork over the extra 100k for your own OEM version. They also usually bundle hangul and office on it.

The mainboard driver CD usually has an anti-virus program on it.

You can also download good stuff (legal and free) for antivirus and firewall.

If that doesn't suit you I have a laptop for sale.
Model SENS640 - asking 400k.

i am also looking for a desk top. But I want one that can play doom 3 and has a DVD burner, 160gb hd 1gb Ram, and monitor. Can i get something like that for 500k in Yongsan?

I don't mind buying the parts and building it myself.
