It's a pretty long story but basically I've just returned from a visa run and have started working legally. I had a visa before and had to surrender my ARC when I went to Japan.
I've known I'd be quitting in May anyways and my stupid contract wants 2 months notice. I'm only giving notice as a courtesy to the other foreign teacher and I have other matters to resolve during this time anyways. I didn't bother negotiating my contract since immigration had told me they wouldn't approve a new E-2 visa for me. I was in a desperate situation really. I was on a G-1 visa but that's not really important. There's an old thread about it somewhere. It was supposed to be an under the table job but suddenly it no longer is.
They changed my schedule today after changing it last week and I'm completely fed up with being there only now my contract is valid. I have some money sitting in the pension office but don't know if I can claim it without an ARC. I have a photocopy of my last one. I'm just worried that if I give notice now the school won't bother getting an alien registration card for me. I suppose I could probably just go get it myself but was wondering if I needed it. I really don't want to go through the hassle of applying for it from overseas. My school will also take its sweet time getting the card, knowing as I do about their organizational prowess and all.
Would the photocopy and explanation of how I just quit at the hagwon where I just started be enough? Or should I just get the card myself? Or wait for my school to get it (I'm aware I'll have to go to immigration with them regardless) and then give notice? |
