Hello everyone! I'm moving to Seoul in two weeks, and I was wondering if I need to bring a converter (to change the voltage). My Korean friend said I don't need to buy plug adapters, bec. they're cheaper in Korea ($5 compared to $10 at Radioshack or Best Buy). But she couldn't understand completely what I meant by a converter.

Could anybody help me?

Thanks! Smile

Check this FAQ page:

It'll have the answer to that question and more.

What kind of plugs do you have? Given that you just assumed everybody would know, I'm going to guess you're American.

What are you converting? Computers usually have converters built-in. If it's small consumer electronics, it might be easier to buy new stuff here.

When I arrived in Korea it was a little overwhelming at first. Finding a store that sold adaptors was the last thing on my mind.

I suggest that you pick up a universal adapter from your local office supply store. They have prongs to fit any outlet in the world and they are around $10-$20 depending on what country you are from. You just plug whatever cord you want into it and it has different shaped prongs that you set to fit in any outlet.

I doubt that you'll need a converter.
