Look at your phone specs. Korean phones are CDMA, so the only companies in the US you can use your phone is Verizon or Sprint.
Generally, quad band and some tri band phones will work in the US. Korean phones do not need to be "unlocked" but they may have to be reprogrammed.
Generally, GSM is the better technology so when you go back to the US, I would get Cingular or T-Mobile. Cingular because the new Apple iPhone will be Cingular exclusive for a year or 2, and that phone is awesome!
I had cingular for a couple years and had to disconnect the service when I moved to Korea back in January. I loved it, especially the roll-over minutes. I had like 3 different phones, 1 camera phone, 1 no camera (for my company. Some companies won't let you have a camera phone at work) and 1 PDA phone. I just slid my SIM card into whichever phone I felt like using at the time. |
