Hi all. I am looking to come and look for a teaching job in the area. I want to try to avoid headhunters if at all possible.
Any information about the local job market is appreciated. I currently teach in Thailand and tutor private to a slew of Koreans of all ages and I really enjoy teaching them.
I have heard of BCM and did a search here and some minor stuff came up. Info on them and others (public schools preferred)?
Thanks, |

Hi Sniperteam6.
I worked in Cheong-ju for 5 years at Cambridge Hagwon. An excellent school and an honest, intellegent boss. If you see a job going here, then grab it. You'll have no problems (now 2 schools). Can't advice you about public schools though.
In short, Cheong-ju is alright. Not as many things to see or do , as in the bigger cities, nor as many party places. Still, it's not such a bad place to live. |

Don't work for a Mr. Seo at American School. I think there are two branches now.
Cheongju is OK. Its an easy daytrip to Seoul when you want something different too. |

But didn't you say in another thread that you had only had 3 days vacation during those 5 years? |

xtchr.
That's right. 3 days out of the country. A Monday, Tuesday, and back to Korea on the Wednesday to start teaching on the Thursday.
All the rest of the days off were either Korean holidays or 2 or 3 days for school vacation.
The job however, was very good. No complaints.

| I live in Cheong-ju, and my foreign coworker is leaving in three months. If that time works for you and if you'd like to know more, P.M. me. |

Yeah...I too work in Cheongju, no real complaints. Downtown is downtown enough...but I (and my K-wife) find the Korean people here rude(r) than in other provinces.
Other than that...
