Canadians are not having enough babies to keep the country growing, so the country is importing Canadians.

CBC:

An average 240,000 newcomers per year more than compensated for the country's flat fertility rate.

It says Canada's natural birth rate is 1.5 children per couple, compared to America's at 2.0 children per couple.

I wondered what the breakdown was on the US by region.

Quote:
Most (88 percent) of the nations population growth between 2000 and 2030 would occur in the South and West, which would be home to the 10 fastest-growing states over the period. The share of the population living in the South and West would increase from 58 percent in 2000 to 65 percent in 2030, while the share in the Northeast and Midwest would decline from 42 percent to 35 percent.

While immigration no doubt is affecting these numbers, I think its safe to say that Americans living in the North have birthrates similar to Canada's.
