Last Friday i parked my car in front of Thunder Burger in Itaewon when suddenly a fat guy came running at me yelling that i had parked in his spot. At first i didn't understand what he was saying until my Korean date translated what he was saying. I didn't even see the guy or his car so the whole thing was a shock to me. As she was telling me what he was saying the guy started yelling "ship pal nom...ke se ki" and various other nasty words while raising his hand like he was about to punch me.

At this point i said screw this and i kept on walking to the Taco restaurant. The fat guy then blind sided me and punched me across the head. A bit of a malay ensued but i didnt throw a punch. While the guy continued to scream at me my date told me that the guy was saying that he hates all foreigners and they should all die. She then begged me to move my car instead of starting trouble with this loser. I finally said ok, because i also didnt want trouble and i was starving after a long day at work.

I went to get back in my car to move it and the guy jumped in his truck to block me off. When i opened my door to yell at him he came over and started choking me while i sat in my car. More people intervened as he continued to take swings at me.

Eventually he got back in his truck to move it and as i was getting in my car i flipped him the bird and told him to f-himself. As i started to back away i saw him charging my car in my mirror with a crowbar in his hands. He smashed my drivers side rearview, kicked my door several times and started yelling at me to leave my car so he could crack my head open with the crowbar.

I jumped out the passenger door and ran to a cop down the street. Since the FTA conference was just up the road cops were everywhere.

Eventually we went to the cop shop, whereby true to form the police did everything in their power to look out for the korean guy even though there were at least 15 witnesses who all saw what happened and told the cops that the korean guy was completely to blame.

After being interrogated for 2 hours i finally had enough. I wanted to settle. The Thunder Burger guy said he would pay for my car repairs and give me 100,000 won (a complete joke considering that if roles were reversed id be rotting in jail and paying him at least a couple million won). Since i was tired and hungry i said yes.

My car was fixed the next day BUT the thunder burger owner called my date and told her he would not pay the 100,000 won unless i went to his store and apologize to his face. What a joke. No way in HELL i would apologize. Plus there is no doubt in my mind that he wanted to just antagonize me hoping that i would punch him.

Anyone who wants to question this story, there were at least 15 foreigners there, a few of whom suggested i post this story here on eslcafe...im assuming they are regular posters and will backup everything ive said.

DO NOT EAT AT THUNDER BURGER. Not only does the owner HATE all foreigners, their food is garbage. I heard he spits in any burger ordered by a non-korean.

This guy sounds like a complete and utter loser as well as those so-called cops... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes I hardly eat burgers anyways, so I won't be going to Thunder Burger. I would apologize to him when pigs fly. Evil or Very Mad

My first impression after hearing the name of the restaurant is the sound my gut would probably make after eating there... Shocked

Damn, if you hate foreigners so much, you couldn't've picked a worse place to open your foreign food restaurant.

I'm sure this guy is terrifying, what with his microscopic portions and extortionate prices. I wasn't going back there anyway, but now...

By the way, that's the way the police roll. They get all the people involved in the incident into the police shop and then try to sort everything out. Justice comes to the patient. If this guy won't give you the 100 000 won, call the police.

You should've held out for more money. 100k, as you said, ain't gonna cut it if the roles are reversed.

How were you able to determine that he's the owner of thunder burger?

Also, and I'm not trying to kick you while you're down, but malay is a language or ethnicity, not a brawl. (melee)

I hope this isn't true, because I really like the burgers there. But I would feel weird going up to the guy and saying "Hey, I heard you hate foreigners. Is that true?" I like the burgers there and the ones at th Rocky Mountain Tavern. I don't like the ones at TGIF that much, because the staff doesn't seem to understand the words "well done". This sounds kind of like a crazy story. It sounds like people keep on parking in his spot. If this is true, he should put a sign. And if this is true, he shouldn't have a business in Itaewon. If he hates foreigners, then he should move.

Don't go to Thunder Burger anyway. Go up the hill (the one without hookers) toward Phillys.

If he hates foreigners let's hope he keeps his butt in Korea too and never travels anywhere. But, oh yeah, he would probably go to another country and still call people foreeeeeeeeners even though he would be the foreeeigner or wayguk.

The New Phillies rocks, and the Kiwi who owns the joint was quite polite to Rochie on his birthday in 2005.

Here's to New Zealand!

Reject that Thunder Burger stuff. The food has a bad rep anyway.

What are other good hamburger places since some are calling for a boycott of this place. I really liked Thunder Burger's burgers.

You just gave me a great idea for my next video. And the fun thing is, we could get some money out of the guy to boot!

Quick, let's all take up a collection, buy one of those POS Hyundais for sale on the Buy/Sell board, and park it in front of the Thunderburger! We'll have a video camera set up across the street, and tape the guy going ballistic.

Big bucks baby, big bucks.

Who wants to take a hit from the guy for the cameras?

The story sounds kind of full of drama. It sounds weird that a guy who has many foreign customers would say he hates all foreigners. That sounds so much like playing into what we think some Koreans would say.... I don't know. I am skeptical.
