Brothels to Shun Foreigners
From this month, banners reading "foreigner off-limits" have been put up in front of entrances to the brothel district situated in Songbuk-dong, for the first time since it began business 45 years ago.
"As there is widespread belief that foreign workers spread AIDS and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), Korean customers are being driven away," said Chon Kyong-bong, a brothel owner who conducted business in Miari for more than two years. He is serving as the head of the owners' committee that adopted the resolution of not accepting foreigners.
Female employees themselves also show reluctance to provide services to them in fear they will contract diseases, he said. "Although we feel bad for the migrant workers who are here in a foreign land, we have to think of the health of our employees, who have weak immune systems since they drink a lot of alcohol while working," Chon told The Korea Times.

It's always been my belief that prostitutes spread AIDS and other venereal diseases. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on SARS, though. |

You know...whatever...good riddance to the Johns and Hoes when they all start dying of clap and AIDS even after the foreigners have stopped going to Miari. They'll just have to find someone else to blame. Heaven forbid they'd point the finger at themselves.
And there's been a few cases of SARS in the wind in the last few days in Singapore and Hong Kong and the CDC says they're expecting it to return in the next few months. So yeah. Blame the foreigners for that one also if ever it erupts here. Never mind the fact that Koreans are running around coughing in people's faces in subways and hagwons and spraying their sneezes across dozens of people.

God forbid they might be tempted to GO ACROSS THE STREET where all the tabongs and 20+ brothels are located.
I consider those to be real brothels. They have tables and seats and such. Miari Texas is more of a wedding dress fantasy land gone horribly wrong where all the girls sit on the floor, playing with handphones waiting for the charming, if slightly intoxicated Prince Adjashi to come whisk them away for the better part of an hour.
I believe they even have bouncers, looked like it going to the subway the other day.

Amen to that. That's one thing that's always driven me crazy about people here. Even my uni. students will open wide and let out a loud hack or spit filled sneeze without even turning their heads.
And heaven forbid they miss a day of school and stay home to foster earlier recovery. No, must not miss class. Go, suffer, spread germs, make others suffer. YYYEEEEAARRRGGGG!!!!!

Just so I understand, we're mocking the prostitues who no longer want to engage in sexual acts with foreigners due to the fear they have a much higher rate of STD infection, yet there are multiple threads on this forum that mock female prostitutes in Korea who sleep with foreigners in the Itaewon area as being all highly contagious with multiple STDs due to their high level of sexual contact with foreigners.
So I'm a little confused here at the hypocrisy. |
