A couple of posts on another thread mentioned the existence of two-year (grades one and two) middle schools in Korea with no grade 3. Has anyone ever heard of one of these? I've never heard of any such thing, and even the tiniest little pissant middle schools in my district have three grades.

Why would they have middle schools with no grade 3?

At my school we only have year 2 and 3 of middle school and next year this middle school will only have year 3. Sorry but I can't answer your question though. However, I am going to the education office next week so I should have an answer for you by then if you are losing sleep over it.

Last year was the second year my present school had been open, so there were only 1st and 2nd graders running around. This year we have all 3 grades.

I understand my secondary school with less than 60 students may go through the closing procedure in the next couple of years. When that happens, they will stop accepting new students and matriculate the ones they have.

One of the senior teachers told me that they are planning to turn this school into a high school in 2 years time. Suits me (if I am still around) as I wanted to teach in a high school in the first place. So no its not closing. I will still ask the office as to why schools seem to be able to choose what years they teach.
