well...in the end the poor teacher who was down in Namwon for a whole year working hard seems to be out of luck...but she told me she doesn't want me to be talking about it on the boards...

now I think that people ought to be warned, but perhaps it is best if it comes from her...

so pm "majateaches" if you want to hear the whole sordid tale

but don't say you weren't warned

Did she die in the hogwan or did the owners kill the child outside of the hogwan? Not that it matters, but I once saved a child who had hung herself on the blinder cord in the classroom, and ever since I have wondered if a child has ever died in a hogwan.

the kid dying thing really freaked me out...so I asked her again and
she said that when the little girl got out of the academy van the door
closed on her coat or backpack and she was dragged under the tires and
the bus driver ran over her...

all the kids down there have been having nightmares about it

If she's coming back to Korea at all in the immediate future, she should go to the labor board, get a ruling from them and/or immediately file a claim in small claims court. Otherwise she will be out of luck.

Cheers

I know about this situation with kang's language school. The money has been paid and the owner is a decent guy. The korean law states that the money should be paid in 30 days. I believe that "odannyboy" should stop making slanderous statements until the facts come out.

Now its true that an unfortunate accident occured with a student, but that was no fault of anyone, just a terrible accident.

So, further comments about this situation should be withheld until the person in question has made a statement, not "odannyboy". If you want to slander a korean hagwon, get your facts straight.

I worked in this hagwon for some time and found it to be a respectable business.

Ah, if the above story is true, then I beg to differ. There are traffic regulations designed to prevent these sort of "accidents" (Like checking rearview mirrors - what kind of a bus driver doesn't check the exit door is clear before he takes off?). The school and its employees clearly neglected their duty of care to this student.

The fact hat a child was killed is nothing new. Look at the buses and vans running around picking up and dropping off kids, overloaded and the kids are unrestrained, of course accidents happen and I agree whole heartedly with a previous poster, the driver is negligent and should be jailed for manslaughter at least. An incident happened in Ulsan in 2002, a student was killed by the bus he was riding on. It crushed his head like a watermelon and our director's response, rush off to temple and pray it doesn't happen to them. As for the teacher who is back in SA, she may well have gotten her money. Good luck to her anyway. Smile

Bollocks the driver was negligible.

Accidents can be prevented.
