Hmmm... I have been toying with the idea of coming back to Korea for a 3rd year and wow, have I been having some interesting experiences with the online job hunting this time. It seems that some schools are more desperate than ever.

My most recent e-mail, from a school I never applied to:
"Ok i agree to your terms. How can you start? We need you immediately!"

I suppose this is my fault for posting my resume on a random job site, but I'm curious, any other job hunters getting stuff like this in their box? Confused

There's plenty of schools here in Cheonan that are in desperate need of someone immediately and even getting to the point of finding subs for short amounts of time, etc.

They can agree to anything to get you to fly here, but many of them will change their minds after you do, and they put a contract in front of your face.

Still more will not honor the contract at all.

Yes -- desperate. But still Korean.

You know this, I bet.

Gsxr750r, I definitely know it... but this is certainly the first time I've been getting e-mail's with exclamation points. I find that schools usually pretend to bargain, at least a little bit Laughing

Ask for a sign on bonus, to be paid before you arrive. Cool

If you are in country, then you can certainly ask for and receive some great concessions; paid on the first day of each month, ten month contracts that give full bonuses, etc... You are really only limited by your own imagination.
