This is my situation:

My boyfriend has a postdoc at KAIST in Daejeon. The position does not offer him any housing whatsoever. He starts teaching in September and will be moving in August. I hope to move in October or November or December. I'm finishing up my Masters Degree this summer and want to be done before I go over there.

I see that most jobs for English teachers provides housing. I want to find a position in Daejeon. We might get married before we move, and we might not. We're not sure yet. How will the school/landlord feel if my boyfriend lives with me in housing they provide for me?

(a) Tell Koreans you're already married. You'll be common law married just by living together anyways after a year.

Or else

(b) make it very clear that your fiance will be living with you and if it's a problem for them to tell you NOW. Get them to respond to the issue NOW. They want you to teach there so they won't make an issue of it. This is very simple. They will only make a big issue of it if they think it'll make you change your mind. Whatever happens there will be small comments and judgements, but to mantain their values they'll have to tsk-tsk you behind your back, but you won't give two hoots about that hopefully.

I recommend (b) but either will work.

It's very good of you to do something about this. Good thread. Anticipating such situations is wise.
