| The mistake was that the Palestinian voters voted for Hamas hoping they wouldn't be so bad. Voting for Hamas encouraged the emergence of such fanatics. The PA when it was strong would have had those guys in a slammer pretty quick. However, with the emboldening Hamas there is a bad situation. Some are saying that Hamas may split into two camps - one moderate and one extreme. People voted for Hamas, because they were tired of the financial corruption of the PA, but at least the PA run by FATAH brought in money and things were more stable. Things are now even worse under Hamas. They do need new elections, but Hamas keeps threatening retaliation. |

yeah. i thought corruption was pretty bad, but now I think i'd rather have a corrupt, semi-competent government over a clean, incompetent one. |
