| So I'm trying to convince my girlfriends brother to come over to Korea from Canada and I can't seem to find any decent websites for canoe trips and such. He's an avid outdoorsman and the only way I think he'd be willing to come is if there's enough outdoor activities to do. I'm aware of where to go hiking, but does anyone have any information on canoeing or rafting? |

Funny you mention that, I am actually hoping to organize a canoeing outing down the Nakdong for sometime in the summer.
First step, finding one store IN ALL OF KOREA that has canoes. |

| That could be sweet. I'm assuming that there are places where you can rent them though. Kinda like a package deal or something? |

I've done a lot of hiking and travelling around Korea and I am yet to see a canoe. There are a few outfits who do rafting however.
A good thing you can do is rent a bike on Jeju island and ride around the island. It's about 200 km and takes 3-4 days. Then you can climb Mt. Halla.
Another fun thing is hiking at Jirisan. There's a nice 3-4 day ridge walk from temple to temple. Beautiful. |

Canoes are few and far between in Korea. Very rare. I've scoured the country for them. Take my word for it.
There are some rafting outfitters but they are sort of hokey and the "whitewater" rivers are not whitewater. It's the kind of water that little kids could float in a rubber duck tube. It's embarrassing. Also the guides do a bunch of weird team building drills and then it devolves into splash fights and dunking.
You might want to try a fly-fishing trip for a day--much more laid back: http://jamescard.net/flyfishing/ |
