Can anyone advise me regarding buying a DVD rewriter? Internal or external? What's the usual price range in Yongsan? Can anyone recommend a good stall? Thanks.

Basically anything will do. Most are now dual-layer capable so be sure to check for that. You can get a brand-new LG dual layer for less than 50,000 almost anywhere.

I have two. I've got an old LG from back when they cost 140,000 won and I've got a newer BenQ DL drive that was around 45,000 won. I'd say go for the BenQ. Both are good, and I never had any problems with my LG, but I've read that BenQ does better in compatibility tests.

I swear by LG DVD-writers. I've been using one almost daily for three years now without a single glitch.

I'm going to get a new 16X model soon (LG, of course) but will keep ole faithful in there as a back-up.

I also am looking to buy a DVD writer.

I was just looking them up on the net, and I came across CNET and that site said a DVD program can be downloaded.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

thanks

Huh? A DVD program can be downloaded? What do you mean?

I bought 2 LG DVD writers in Yongsan a couple of months ago. It haggled them down to 75,000w for both. They work perfectly.

eamo,
I am not sure. I went to "Yahoo Search", and typed in "DVD Burner". I wanted to see what was out there. Lots of things came up, and then I saw "Download Free DVD Software".

I saw CNET and it said to download a DVD Writer program.

I do not mind spending 50,000 for a burner. I just have to find one. I went to the LG where I live and they do not carry them.

I need an external one, not an internal one.

Any of you guys have an idea why DVDs burnt with my LG DVD burner can't be read by other computers?

Maybe something to do with the speed you burnt them at versus the read speed of the other computers. Unlikely unless the other computers had really old DVD-drives.

It's a combination of the drive you use to burn, the actual disk you are burning onto, and the drive you are using to read the disks. In my experience, LG burners are fine, so I'd guess maybe the disks you are using might be low quality.

External DVD writers are a lot more expensive than internal ones. I have the LG DVD Multi GSA-E20. You can search for info on this product in English (I gave my computer geek sister product codes for external burners available here and she researched for me Wink ).
It's selling at the moment for about 120K won. You can buy at Yongsan or online thru Gmarket, etc.

The Korean for external (in this sense) is 외장형 to help your search.

I use Deep Burner as my writing program. The free version I downloaded works fine for the basic stuff I want to do.

You're probably right. The CDs I use are of no problem, but they are of better quality. For now, the only odd thing I've noticed is that my computer reads the DVDs fine but everybody elses can't.

I have had fairly good luck with Sony CDs/DVDs and HP CDs/DVDs.
