Im really sick. woke up at like 4 am this morning because i had a huge fever. went to school until lunch, then came home. i havent been to the doctor yet but I miss my family and friends back in the states so much.
Well I'm feeling better now, but still have a fever and pain in the pharynx (throat infection?)
Does anyone know any English speaking doctor in Sunae or Yangji area?

My sympathies, that sounds harsh. Do you have any good pain-relief? Ibuprofein or paracetamol? |

I had laryngitis around Xmas time and was knocked out for two whole weeks. Really felt like I was dying. Cheer up you'll get over it. |

There is nothing worse than being sick and by yourself in a foreign country. When it happened to me, I felt so vulnerable and alone, especially at a time when just someone being there would help ease the symptoms some.
I don't really know what to advice to offer, except to remember that you're not alone, and indeed, it is terrible. Hang in!
In the mean time, feel sorry for yourself, and maybe even check into the hospital, it seems like a popular thing to do in Korea (even for a minor cold). They have pretty decent medication that can really relieve the symptoms!
Movies, movies and movies! Take care!

Hello,
I hope you feel better. I also hope you aren't too stressed for whatever reason. I got exactly what you had, a fever, body aches, and throat infection back in december.
I went to the doctor once, and got some medications back in december. I proceed to slowly get worse, only to later develop pneumonia(around mid january). I did one thing right: I went to the doctor the first time, but I didn't go back for a second check up (to inquire about my persistent cough).
Please see the doctor asap if you feel you aren't getting better in the normal two to three week time period. Tell them about your throat, and also get a chest xray if you're coughing. With insurance, it's all pretty cheap. An xray is just precautionary in case you might be developing pneumonia or anything else in the lungs. I had my Korean Co teacher go with me to translate, etc.
Feel better, and please see the doctor if you think your aren't recovering in the normal two to three week time period. Or please consider going now to get checked out. Doing that never hurts. Bring someone who speaks Korean with you if possible. I hope you feel better.
Bye bye. |

I live in Jeongja (next to Sunae) and I ended up having to go to the ER last month. I went to Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. By cab from Jeongja it was around 3000 W. The doctors spoke English, but the nurses didn't really.
If you go to www.snubh.org click the first thing on the top of the page, it has a basic map to the hospital.
I did find they were overly cautious, doing tests, hooking an IV up to me, but they were very nice and it is a good hospital.
I hope this helps! |
