I think facebook jacks your email contact lisy. I got an email from a friend telling me she wants to add me as a friend to her page. I'm not involved with facebook, so whe couldn't have invited me. I clicked on the link, and it asked me to register, and the email field was already filled in.
Sorry if that doesnt make any sense. |

Facebook members can have their contact lists used to invite other friends who may be interested...they're not jacked.. If you were in one of her contact lists then it is possible that you were invited even though you aren't a facebook member.
It makes sense. |

Of course, the whole point of facebook is that you can instantly establish who outranks who in the whole university scheme of things. Which is why Asians LOOOOOOOVE facebook. My former students, three of whom are at my current uni, cannot understand why I am not on there every day writing on their walls. Poor little bastards. |

Hey,
Well, I kind of like it! It's addictive and helps me pass the time at my public school. I've managed to reconnect with people who I'd lost touch with (I moved around a lot as a kid). And, it's easy to let everyone know what you're up to, and very user friendly. That being said...I've had a number of people request to be added as 'friends'who I went to high school with but barely knew. I have no idea why they would want to be my 'friends' now. Still, I don't want to look like a jerk, so I add them. Now I'm finding out all about their kids, animals, and rennovations, etc. One of my friends commented on the fact that no one from our grad class has aked her to add them as friends. She asked me ''was I a 'mean girl' in high school?'' So, beware of a tonne of people coming out of the woodwork. |

...I think Facebook rules. I've run into people I haven't seen since maybe middle school. People back home I never hung out with that much. People I like. Some of my family's on it. My first girlfriend who is now a gorgeous Ph.D student is on it. In short, I love the internet. |

I hadn't either, other than something a couple years ago about it being some college student thing.
BUT! My brother sent me an invite a couple days ago. My first thought was "This is lame", but I signed up because I wanted to see some pics from home. Then I noticed a bunch of my cousins and old family friends that I haven't talked to in eons linked to my bro's page, so got back in touch with them. Then I dug a little deeper and got back in touch with a bunch of college and high school friends I've lost touch with since coming to Korea.
I've had a really eventful (in a good way) last couple months here, but I HATE sending out huge generic group e-mails. Now I don't have to. I still feel kinda lame checking it every other day, but it's nice to be able to see what's going on back home with just a couple clicks instead of wading through and replying to an assload of e-mails. |
