Anyone ever notice that when superheros charge the camera, they often look like thalydomide babies or amputees? Check out the leg stumps.
"Hurry up, Hoppy the Red! They're getting away!"
"I'm--grunt--hopping--fast as i can! Wait uuuuup!"
Redboy's super amputee power is 'not falling over.'
Tripod here looks like the metallica guy, on 'roids, with something jammed up his bum. "I'll fix you, illegal downloaders!"
And what's that weird fleshy tuber thing crawling all over his back? You don't think it's his...naaaaah, it couldn't be! Superheros ain't got wieners. |

| I've always hated "team" comic books, with one or two exceptions. |

I don't usually like my own, but...bumpity BUMP!
Please post more silly superhero pix, all you comic book geeks! I love my amputees.
(Honestly, I'm a huge comic book geek myself, but you gotta admit, superheros need some piss taken out of them.) |

That's the Jack Kirby influence for yah.
He influenced everyone from me to... you know, real comic artists.
Personally, I kind of prefer the dynamic lack of realism in his art to the somewhat more realistic stuff thats popular in hero books today:
Mind you, I completely love the questionable morals of The Ultimates here, but the art lacks the bombastic feel of Kirby. Jack Kirby's art just sort of screams "COMICS" at you while this says, "I graduated from art school and am really good at perspective"
But then again:
Spider Man throwing a jeep at a sniper is pretty cool |

Billy Fetish?
I used to love cartoons as a child, but I found one artist of note appealing as an adult. Found these comics superior to most literature I'd read. Compelling stuff. I far prefer artists.
Disclaimer: For race traitor and the mod known as dude, the art above is an expression of the jewish experience during the holocaust and celebrates the endurance of jews in the face of nazi tyranny. If the complexity of metaphor is too much for you, delete away. |

I think TWG did a great job of superhero-ing my husband (a commissioned birthday present), who's been a comic collector for years. He even got that kyoot little chin dimple in there:
But an upgrade is needed, sweetie is now Major Awesome.

May I divert for a moment, canuckistan?
Why do US army have a backwards yank flag patch? I heard it was so the brave and righteous US is never to be seen in retreat. Is that so? |

It's not backwards per se. The right shoulder is the only side you can put that patch on where it flies "true"--ie: the stars are always in the top corner nearest to the flag pole.
Can't put it on the left shoulder and have it fly "true."
It work on both shoulders with the British flag--make of that what you will |

Actually, a flag worn backwards is allowed only by soldiers in a war zone. It's symbolic of the old calvary soldiers as they rode into battle the flag would fly and appear backwards. Once a soldier returns home he(or she) is supposed to have it removed from their BDUs (Battle Dress Uniforms).
I wore one in Bosnia.
Congrats on the husbands promotion, canukistan. By his collar, I would guess some armored division..tanks maybe. Hmmm, "canukistan". Are you Canadian with a middle east(Afghanistan) heritage married to a U.S. soldier? Interesting!
Back on topic:
Hey, don't knock The Uncanny X-men! That was my all-time fav until they started appearing like Japanese anime. Even the stories started to suck. That's when the whole industry went belly-up and that's when I called it quits. Still like the old stuff. Sylvestri, Adams, Romita Jr....awesome artists. |

Thanks for the congrats and the flag info. There's lots if interesting historical stuff about how patches are worn and how insignia got to be the way they are. Some of it going back to Napoleon.
Hub's a tanker alright. He loves tanks. He breathes tanks. He can't wait to zoom around in a tank. I used to think they were clunky and not very manoeuverable. I was wrong. Those M1A1's are pretty impressive. So is some of the Russian stuff.
I picked the "canuckistan" ID because I like making fun of Pat Robertson--the fine fellow who coined the term after 9/11.
I'm Dutch-Canadian btw
Hub's tank in Korea:
