I had a brief conversation the other day with the woman who plans my public school's lunch. I asked her how she's doing these days. Her answer was along these lines:
"I'm very busy these days. The government changed the nutritional requirements for public school lunches so I've had to totally change the school's lunch menu."
I told her that I had seen some articles in Korean news recently about "light" ramyeon and the dangers of a high-sodium diet and asked her if the government's decision was related to this trend. Indeed, she said, it was.
OK, fine - I try not to eat much ramyeon and I have a basic idea of how much salt is in my diet. All of this is well and good. But the thing is, I can't seem to notice any difference between last year's school lunch and this year's school lunch...
Have you noticed a difference in your school lunch this year? |

No noticable difference except I don't see the hottest lunch lady around anymore.
"Woke up in the morning.
Put on my new plastic glove.
Served some re-heated salsbury steak
With a little slice of love.
Got no clue what the chicken pot pie
Is made of.
Just know everything's doing fine
Down here in Lunch Lady Land." |
