Hello,

First question: If I cant have privates outside of my hawgron, assuming that I can get the director's permission, why cant I bring them to my school on Saturday? I am teaching fifth and sixth grade students and if I find adults to tutor on the weekend it will not negatively affect enrollment at the school. Perhaps the school could even offer discounts to our student's parents.

Second question: If I return for a second year, can I stipulate in my contract that I want a bonus for a every teacher I recruit to the school.

Third question: How much of an increase in monthly salary should I ask for? My school has little difficulty recruiting teachers but a face a very difficulty time retaining them for more than one year.

Thanks in advance,

VI

1. If they sign up through your school, then it would be counted as overtime or just another class. Then it's legal. Also, if the money is funnelled through your director, it's legal. But you'd better talk to him about that.

2. You can ask for anything you want in a contract. You can ask for a private airplane ride home if you want. But if your director doesn't want to do it, he doesn't have to. Once again, you'd better talk to your director.

3. 100,000 a month is a standard increase, and 200,000 or more is less common, but still happens. Unless your school really likes you, you won't get more than 100-200 a month. If business has really improved because of you, then you have grounds to ask for a bigger raise.

Instead, maybe ask for 100,000 and 2 extra holiday days. Or 100,000 and the teacher recruiting fee.

Recruiting teachers for your school and getting paid for it is outside the boundries of what your E-2 visa allows. It's not something I would put in your contract cause if immigration see it you could be in a lot of trouble for doing work that is not allowed on an E-2 visa. It would be the same as saying you do privates in your contract.

Also, if you say your doing recruiting and getting paid for it in your contract you need a recruiters license and a different visa to do it and would not be able to teach as they won't give you both visas.
