Okay, I have to do a visa run, and I'm a little sick of Japan, so I thought if I do it over a weekend I might be able to go some place new, as I've only been to Japan and Thailand.
Any recommendations? I'd like to see beaches. Peace and Quiet would be nice too.
This will likely be next weekend. |

Consulates are closed on the weekends. You will have to be there for the Friday am to drop off and pick up between Monday pm and thursday pm depending on the country.
Stick to the overnighter in Japan for your visa run and do your holiday when you have free time and don't piss it away at a consulate. |

Yes, I was planning on coming back Monday or Tuesday evening. Forgot to mention that, sorry.
I have had the same thought process... it would just be easier to do it in Japan; no surprises.
But, I won't have as much vacation time with this new job, and I didn't travel as much as I wanted last year (not at all except for my Thailand trip), so I'd like to take every chance I can.
Follow up question I forgot to mention at the beginning: This is for an E-7 visa. Are processing times the same as with E-2? I'm betting it is, but if someone can confirm, that would be awesome. |

| I could have sworn there were other threads stating that visa runs were no longer necessary- true, false- or just depends on the slant of the moon? |

Visa runs are NOT necessary if you extend or re-sign with the same employer.
Visa runs are NOT required if the immigration office allows you to add your new employer to your current visa and then cancel the old place of employment (transfer jobs).
Visa runs ARE required if you had to go through the process of a new visa confirmation number with a new employer. |
