|
|
I am searching high and low for a 15 volt 4 amp power supply for my laptop for the past 2 1/2 months in Korea to no avail and find myself frustrated at this point. I found the product I needed with right size of small round plug-in to the laptop and 15 volts, but it was designed to power laptops in a car (24 volt in, 15 volt out) instead of home. (220 volt in, 15 volt out) I have searched many small stores and large ones like E-mart and HomePlus, talked to many people, and no one at my school could help me either. I am in Changwon and have not traveled outside of Changwon so this might be a large part of my problem as everything here is so rediculously limited or simply unavailable here I find. (I.e. also searched all avenues for UNO cards with no luck, frustrating) A lack of necessary things to operate here is sure starting to wear on me where I am finding myself daydreaming more and more about leaving Korea.
For the power supply, I was told I needed to go to Seoul, but no particular details where given. If DC power supplies are only found in Seoul, where might I go in order to snag this on a Saturday by taking the KTX to Seoul? This would be my first time going to Seoul.
Is there a place in Busan that might sell all sorts of DC power supplies?
I just want to get my laptop going so I can have internet at home and not be spending 100,000 Won a month in smokey crowded PC rooms. Thanks for your help in advance to anyone who can help me out here. |

If you come to Yongsan you'll be able to find what you want at the iparkmall building (attached to the train station). I picked up exactly what you needed just a few weeks ago. Prices ranged from 25,000 to 35,000 for the same thing.
It'll come wiht multi attachments so you could use it with more than just your laptop. Basically get to the floors with the computer equipment and hit up the accessory shops. |

I got a 2nd DC power brick for my HP computer from the guy just before the tunnel on the way from Sinyoungsan station to Youngsan Elec. Market. Bring your notebook, as you will have to make sure the plug fits. HP purposely sells their DC power bricks at high prices (between 50,000 and 100,000 won) and they constantly change plugs so you can't recycle old ones easily. I'll be darned if I was going to give them another chunk of cash that big. As I mentioned before, I dropped 150,000 down on a base station unit to recharge my laptop, among other things. The damned unit didn't come with a power plug! I spend that much money for something that is supposed to offer me more mobility, and I am told by the instructions to use my DC brick provided with my computer, or pay them (at the time) another 100,000 a spare DC brick.
I got a used one from that guy in Youngsan, and all of the specs were fine, but the plug didn't fit. I went back, and bought a 2,000 won connector, and now it's fine.
HP can go rot. |

So this involves the big trip to Seoul? Perhaps I should just get up early this Saturday morning and go for it.
Thanks a bunch for telling me where they sell things like this at. I think I can get to the Youngsan electronics market now that I am looking at a map of the Seoul Subway despite having not gone to Seoul yet.
I am in it for a good Canon Powershot A630 too while I am at it.
EDIT: Thanks a bunch guys. I found the power supply I needed. |
