It's called Access South Korea Now. They have a pretty slick looking website, but I've heard a lot of bad things about ESL recruiters in SK. Does anyone here know of them or have any opinions? |

I got some pretty bad referrals from them. All the schools they sent me showed up to be pretty iffy when I researched them. Went on my own and found something I hope will turn out to be ok.... |

I used them to come here. If they don't have the best school contacts I wouldn't know. I have a few problems with where I was placed but nothing major. I have had slight issues with just about every job I have had so I figured it is normal. The guys that run ASKnow are great fun and they have started organizing get togethers for the people they have placed. If you are wary just try emailing Jason and telling him your reservations about using them. |

I was in contact with them when I was first job-hunting. I talked to Jason on the phone and he asked me not to use any other recruiters because it would make me look undesirable to schools if they had been presented with my photo and resume before. I'm glad I did not take his advice, as he didn't send me one job description in a month and a half, yet continued to send his generic and peppy "Let's get ready to go to South Korea!" newletters. I landed a job through other means. |

the resources on their website are amazing...def. suggest looking through all they have to offer.
i just accepted a job yesterday, and ask now was the first agency i went through. to this day, I haven't spoken with anybody from the recruiting agency personally, and they have yet to offer me a position. i keep getting those "peppy" generic form letters too. i would definitely suggest "spreading your chips" with other recruiting companies and apply to schools directly.
having been a recruiter (not in ESL) in the past, theres nothing really to be afraid of. the job itself isn't inherently evil. as daniel craig so aptly put it in Layer Cake: "the art of good business is being a good middleman". Recruiters are middlemen...naturally some will be better than others.
i'd apply with as many recruiters/schools as you can. |
