I hate Bamboo. They Wreck the Food of Taiwan by putting Bamboo in otherwise good stew and stuffed meat rolls. I am very angry about this. Kim Chee was in many things too but it is more or less like red pepper. And everyone likes pepper...
I am going to go to Protest at the President's house... Or maybe at a Bamboo food factory.
I will not tolerate this - I am a Lord and Noble of this Island. My English Might Rules! I am not a Tree eating Panda. I am Great I am Clever my English is Supreme.
In Korrea they seemed to put mucky green seaweed in many soups... but it was rather bland and I could often still enjoy the Soup's tasty mushrooms.
BUt, bamboo leaves a cloying nastiness. It is evil. Perhaps I can kidnap Pandas form China and let them loose on the Bamboo farms here too eat all the shoots. I could train them in Spatznatz tactics and equip each with a tranquilizer gun (I don't want anyone getting killed over my bad taste)
This is a real problem as most of the Work lunches are befouled by Bamboo... Maybe I should demand a Fastfood Stipend as I hate Pig feet stew and Bamboo fat Pork Globs.
Perhaps I Can file suit somewhere... Mann it is enough to take a Massive Paycut and work in Thailand where the Food R00Lz...
But I may stay to finish for the Love of these:

How's life in Taiwan Toad? Are you in Taipei? Teaching public school or private academy? In some ways I preferred Taiwan over Korea (I was there in 2001-2). Just a friendlier place really, not so many of these weird "foreigner" vibes so common in Korea, although outside Taipei you are more alien of course. Some good food/restaurants there. I miss the "teppanyaki" style restaurant, have not seen one in Korea.
Dealing with Chinese is not so easy though. I just learned a few food characters mainly, and would point at stuff. I think I learned to say a few foods correctly but the white face makes you incomprehensible sometimes! A phrase book is useful, you can just point at sentences. I think www.tealit.com had a few useful expressions in English and Mandarin.
Damn the beer there was unfit for consumption. It's actually a good place to not drink much.
Would you say you prefer Taiwan over Korea now? How long have you been there?
Cheers. |

You two bamboo gourmet masters should pm each other and set up a bamboo feast together then... maybe one could cook for the other and you could go eat steak afterwards to compensate for the yucky taste of bamboo.
Hey Ja JaDude my old chum. Mmm well I like T-Land for the ho hot weather ... must remain somewhat hush hush as I want to avoid Ninjas and angry K-Teacher Daves Defenders but I am wayyyyy South Of the Big T-dot City. I got a job offer there - she saw my writs - met me and I turned here down for the 65K NT --- That would have been in the Big Capital at a Girls' High School - I know I know not much can beat an all Girls' High School for sheer ego points. But Taipei had too much traffic to ride in a safe manner... So I opted for a set up way South in the "Country" yes there is RIce/Pineapple fields but still way too many cars. I may have to settle for Jeju again or -chillls at the paperwork- America.
I can say a few words in the lingo but I continue to say sha sha wrong just becuse it funny when everyone corrects me
I bought a very few amount of beers while here but the Kerin and Cornoa seemed ok... But I drink very little so I may not remember the T taste from the USA taste...
But kids are kids... food is not the same however due to the no winter to speak of here I am going to have to side with Taiwan. Having saved way too much money though I may have to return to Central America and teach more there... |
