Spring will soon be here, and the spectacle of 27 year-old Westerners walking around Seoul with skateboards under their arms is upon us. I could never understand how anyone past the age of fifteen could get on a skateboard - let alone someone approaching 30. The fact that these university graduates feel a need to bring their little skateboards with them to Korea is beyond amusing.

Am I alone in finding these people rediculous? Or am I just no longer hip?

Isn't this kind of attitude just a Western version of confuscianism?

You're like some old ajumma telling the young ajumma that she needs to get a perm because women over 30 look silly with long hair. Go to hell.

Lots of skateboarders in Hell actually. Try finding a decent stairway that hasn't been ground down.

To the OP-

What shaped your thinking to regard skateboarding as a strictly juvenile activity? Some adults enjoy it because it's fun and a form of transportation, just as others enjoy inline skating or biking.

I don't even like skateboarders but I hate this act-your-age attitude even more. The only point in acting one's age is to stop doing stupid sh*t. But if you're doing something fun like skateboarding or being in a band or whatever, there's no reason to stop.

And if you're wondering, I'm 25, so no, it's not because people made fun of my 50-year-old @ss wearing a trucker hat.

Yeah, I fully agree. What a bunch of immature IDIOTS! I mean, carrying around SKATEBOARDS?! And, the worst part of it is that they are actually getting out and having some fun, while NOT hurting anyone. And you know what else?! Skateboarding is exercise! They are exercising as well!

What is next? Skiing?

Cheers.

If you're old and fat like me try a long board skate - great for cruising around.

Well....I would have to agree that it sometimes looks stupid if they bring the board to work, dressed in really casual clothes while holding a ratty old backback.
--I really think the western teachers need to stop carrying the stupid backback and buy a proper bag. It looks bad, bad, bad.
