Biking to Ansan for lunch is quickly becoming a regular weekend activity for me. I've been to a couple places so far.
I went to this Thai restaurant a couple weeks ago. It was very good, and reasonably priced. W8,000 for an entree. Even though the menu is all in Korean, the waitress spoke Englsih.
I went to Taj Mahel this weekend and didn't think it was all that great. I had a kebab, a couple of samosas, and a lassi for W8,000. I could have eaten twice as much with no problem. I wasn't impressed by the samosas, nor the lassi.
So Ansanites - I need some recommendations. I've got a Mongolian place and a Russian/Uzbek place on my list of places to try. I'd also like to check out a Chinese restaurant, but there's too many too choose from. Any particular foreign food restaurants you'd recommend? Especially in the Chinese realm - I'd prefer a place with English menu or waitstaff. Dim sum would be nice, if I could be so bold. |

The area across from the station. Unless there are some good foreign restaurants elsewhere. |

Kaki Lima, the Indonesian restaurant (one of them anyhow) does a good bakso, but don't go for the satay ayam. There is another place, a mart facing the station but on the other side of the road that does decent Indonesian fare as well. |

Want a really good bowl of Borsch in Ansan? In the plaza across from Hanyang station there is a Russian place called Cmak. Its on the second from across from the SLP and Jokki Jokki, you can't miss it. Get the borsch and an order of thick and hearty Russian bread, they go well together. The perogies are also pretty good and come in two different styles. The menu is in English but kind of limited. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I've ever had Indonesian food, so I'll try to make it there soon.

Got down to the Taj Mahel this weekend and both me and my gf were really impressed.
W4000 for a curry dish! In Itaewon you would pay W16,000 for the same dish. It was really good too. We had the mutton curry, chicken korma (it's spelt differently on the menu), samosas (W1000) and rotti breads (W1000). Both curries were tasty, the breads were light and fluffy, and the samosas were fine too. An Indian feast for two cost onlyW12,000.
I would really recommend this place, I'm gutted that I've only just found it after 10 months here! |

I'm going to check out Taj Mehal tonight.
Last time I went to "Country House." It's on a side street. Had a great Dal curry and roti. The samosa was decent but not great.
They had a couple of Indonesian staff members that were super cool. I had fun talking to them about Indo (god, I gotta get back to that country).
Where's a good place for Satay Ayam?
I think I'll be spending a lot more time in Ansan now! |

I just went to the New Taj Mahal for dinner tonight and quite liked everything there. I think it was definitely a bargain! 1/3 the price of dinner in Itaewon! Good stuff! |

There should be a direct bus from the cross-country bus station, if you have one of those. Just rock up to the bus station and say Ansan. |

On Oct. 28 there will be an International Unity Festival at Ansan World Cup Stadium. Of course, the web site is only in Korean. But it looks like there'll be a lot of countries with booths.
A couple of new restaurants of note in Ansan (in the area across from the station):
A new Uzbek place. Pretty good food, and the guy there speaks English. They also have several versions of Baltika. Mains are W5,000. Shashlik, samsas, and salads are W2,000.
Also, a new Indonesian place.
