| I had some students raving about the Saw series in class yesterday, actually. I wonder if the reason Koreans like it so much is because Korean horror movies don't compare. Has anyone seen a Korean horror flick? I only saw part of one on TV once, where some creepy zombie girl with a crooked neck was walking about. |
The Host is a good horror flick. And I don't know if Old Boy counts as horror, but it's a good movie nonetheless and has a few genuine "GAH OH GOD WHAT IS HE DOING" moments. |

Ah-ha! Installing pre-cancer is incorrect! In his backstory, he find out he gets cancer, then has the car crash, and THEN decides to go ca-razy and start killing people. And maybe, MAYBE he would have them installed first, but you can't tell me one guy could design and install all of the other various things himself (most notably all of the countdown to lockdown doors).
Hahahaha...this is a ridiculous conversation. |

But how far was the cancer advanced when he made these? That is the question. (You can tell I'm really bored)
Speaking of horror...my one class was cancelled because of "evaluation". Now THAT'S horror...spending eight hours at a Korean school with nothing to do all day |

To the OP ... one of the best movie reviews I've read in a long time. I wholeheartedly agree. The 'Saw' franchise, if you want to call it that, is a mind-numbingly stupid geekfest peepshow for masochists and Rube Goldberg-esque torture fanatics.
What a load of rubbish. |

ACTUAL horror movies are okay. Not the schlock they pass off as horror these days. Slasher movies are not horror. Gorefests are not horror. Special Effects and bloodbaths are not horror. It's crap.
Give me "The Shining" or "House of Wax" any day! |

Hyuk...my thoughts exactly.
Hostel, otoh, now there's some dirty fun... |
Man, Hostel freaked the shit out of me! I normally am not bothered by horror/gore flicks, but my toes were curled for most of this movie and I bet I had a huge grimace on my face too. My friend was planning a trip to Eastern Europe. After we watched that movie she was having second thoughts (not seriously) but you know... |

The Wicker Man was far worse. (Unless you're referring to the original film, but you wouldn't do such a ludicrous thing, correct?)
The conundrum that keeps me awake at night: is Saw II worse than They? |

I liked all the SAW movies. I disagree about gore not being good horror.
A good horror should scare and repulse me.
"Shutter" is freaky
I couldn't forget about it for a few days. That's a good thing in a horror film.
The best IMHO are:
1. Exorcist
2. Shutter
3. The Devil's Rejects (killer soundtrack too) |

| Sarah, chill. You're taking all of this far too seriously. They're not bad movies at the end of the day. Potentially plausible, but probably not - that's why they're movies. |

I haven't seen any of the movies so I don't know why I read this thread. I thought nominations for worse movies were going to come out. It seems to me though that he must be incredibly rich or doesn't mind spending all his savings on his blood lust fantasies. I think you are forgetting about the concept of greed though. There's got to be a contractor out there with questionable morals. People will do almost anything for the right amount of money.
I wonder what they'd do to a contractor who said the guy was crazy. Maybe they had some elaborate plan and when the guy started getting freaked out about what he was being asked to do they told him he was on some hidden camera show...... or just hacked him up. Hard to say.
"Waiting" is my vote for worst movie. Bad horror movies are funny but bad funny movies are horrible; you can't even make fun of them. |

How do the backstories of Saw and Saw II match up? In the first movie we knew he was a cancer patient but nothing at all about a car crash... and he certainly didn't look like the same guy at all.
Plus in the first movie, don't we see him in a coma in the hospital at the same time the murders were supposed to be happening? |

Hmm... I enjoyed all Saw movies. (Yes, even Saw III.) I heard that there will be a Saw IV and it's a prequel, not a sequel. Now how cool is that? |
