You might want to change the topic of your thread, because it has nothing to do with your OP.
Anyways, aside from that, Jeju is essentially the same price as everywhere else in Korea when it comes to eating. It isn't Sillim prices, but just your average price. When it comes to hotels, I don't really know because I don't stay in them on Jeju, but I am pretty sure most "hotels" are pricey, whereas you can find cheaper yeogwans and whatnot to stay in. Hope this helped. |

| I spent 4 days on Jeju-do and spent about W500,000, including my airfare. Great trip. I'm looking forward to going back. |

I spent the same amount over 2 1/2 weeks in Thailand. And the bonus was, it was not Korea. |

Including airfare? No.
Maybe you should get out of McDonald's and see the country more. You might be surprised. |

Then I call BS. No way you're vacationing on 80,000 a day on Jeju. Any hotel on Jeju will run you 150k+ a night, easily up to 300k unless you stay at a love motel, and well, that's not much of a vacation in my book. And that's not including the entrance fees, food, night-time money, and travel costs. Sure, you CAN spend that little on Jeju, but then staying at a *beep* hotel and eating street-vendor food isn't a normal person's idea of vacation. |

i have been to jeju a couple of times....went with the girlfriend both times.
We stayed in a brand new and clean minbak with a big TV and bed and all facilities you need which was 30 000 a night(in peak season)
we hired a car for 50 000 a day....
So that is 80 000 right there for 2....
Add another 80 000 a day(which is an over-estimate) between us for meals, fuel, enterance fees and such and it is up to 160 000 a day, so that is 80 000 each right there...
What are you talking about???
It is very nice...granted it isn't Thailand but it is a good, easy and CHEAP trip away... |

Do you bring cans of soup with you in your luggage too? You could save a few hundred won. Nothing like taking a serious g/f to a h00ker motel to save a few bucks. I suppose...to each his own. |

Did you miss the minbak part.......that isn't a hooker hotel. It is like a bed and breakfast we have in the west. it was comfortable, the room was nice, in a good location and the owner was very friendly.....
By the way...my girlfriend suggested it so keep your ignorant comments to yourself. |

50 000 should be fine....
If it is a hotel it could quite possibly be a love hotel but some of those places are pretty good.... |

The island of Jeju is only expensive if you do it honeymoon suite style! Otherwise it is indeed affordable, I found it downright cheap.
30,000-50,000 for very nice (not old) motel room, car rental at 65,000 per day (no hidden expenses, unlimited km, just cheap LPG gas you put in yourself), tons to see and do without entry fees, and those with fees, the prices vary. Many are a 1000 won others are ten times that much. You don't even need to go to such museums and sites to enjoy the island.
So, go with your newlywed friends, just skip the honeymoon suite. |

4 days on Jeju-do for about W500,000
airfare: W140,000 (Asiana internet rate)
room at a decent yeogwan in Seogwipo for two nights: W60,000
room at a decent minbak in Seongsan for one night: W20,000
4 dinners, including treating two other people to one dinner: W50,000
4 lunches and 3 breakfasts: W40,000
transportation costs (bus, ferry, and taxi): W45,000
admission to attractions: W40,000
sounvenirs, snacks, misc: W50,000
That adds up to W445,000.
I visited the beaches, saw the waterfalls, hung out with friends, climbed Hallasan and Seongsan Ilchulbong, visited Udo, and did a lot of the other tourist things. My yeogwan and minbak rooms were big, clean, private, safe, quiet. I was surprised by how nice they were for the price.
So, it's quite do-able to spend 4 days on Jeju-do for under W500,000, including airfare. |
